Blowpop are joining Radio 1 in Swindon on Friday May 8th for the Official Start to the Big Weekend – an eight hour dance marathon at Club Liquid, Swindon. 1800 people across three rooms of really very big DJs at the biggest BlowPop ever, and a six-hour live Essential Mix on Radio 1 too!

Heading the bill is Radio One’s godfather of dance, PETE TONG. Joining him will be much loved nu-wave pioneers, 2MANYDJs, making a very welcome return to the UK as they lift the lid on material from what is sure to be one of the standout new albums in 2009.
Electronic Folk Astronaut and dj genius EROL ALKAN heads up the rest of the line-up, taking to the main stage as part of an epic six hour Essential Mix with ANNIE MAC. She’s returning to BP for the first time since her slamming midnight set at Motion on NYE. Long-time BlowPop favourites, the PLUMP DJS, are back in the UK after a string of massive dates in the States!. Expect a leg-churning brain-burning mash-up marathon. Support comes from BP Residents STEREO 8, REAL NICE and MISTER CRAIG. There is really no getting away from the fact that this is going to be very BIG!
Taking charge in room 2, will be Radio One’s radical electronic queen, and long time Bristol sound supporter, MARY ANNE HOBBS. Followed up by one of the year’s most exciting breakthrough artists and bloggers’ favorite, FOAMO, whose tunes and remixes have been destroying floors across the land! Support in room 2 comes from BP residents STEVE REDUX, CLARK K**T and the SEASONFIVE and TORQUE collectives.
Room 3 is hosted by the South’s best dressed make-up crew BITCH ‘N’ STITCH who’ll be applying quiffs and glitter to anyone brave enough to try. Sounds supplied by clubbing legends, CLUB DAVE / TEAM LOVE featuring EL HARVO, JOE 90, KID BONGO, CHRISTOPHE AND PURE RESPECT with uk reggae and roots institution DJ DEREK and BlowPop’s own vinyl hoarder, JOHN STAPLETON.
BlowPop at the Oasis Centre, Swindon. Friday May 8th, 9pm – 5am.
Tickets, priced £25 plus booking fee, will be available online at See Tickets from 10 April and from selected regional outlets from 17 April.
