DEVON SURFER SURVIVES SAMOAN TSUNAMI

Surfer Tom Gogola’s mother has told national newspaper The Times how he survived the recent tsunami that hit the South Pacific last week.  Tom, who is from East Allington in Devon, was surfing off the south west coast of Samoa when an earthquake struck.  Sea levels started to drop and he and his friends knew there was a tsunami coming.  Most of the group headed back to shore, but Tom and a couple of others took their boat further out to sea to ride out the huge waves.  Read more here.
