MONASTERY REUNION IN TORQUAY

Decrease Font Size Increase Font Size Text Size Print This Page

Now this really is a blast from the past. For those that remember, The Monastery in Torquay, Devon was the only all night dance venue in the Southwest for quite a while, located in an amazing converted church and unique in the fact that it didn’t serve alcohol, despite being open until 6am or 7am every Saturday night. People would travel from across Devon, on a weekly pilgrimage to the venue, which hosted DJ’s such as Steve Thomas and Graham Gold amongst others. Always banging, always full with a wicked vibe, things dramatically ended with a huge Police Raid back in the early noughties and that was that, party over, venue closed and clubbers left out in the cold.

They said you can take the clubbers out of the club, but you can’t take the club out of the clubbers, hence this official reunion taking place on Fri 2 July at the refurbished former Play nightclub, now called Pure, is going to be very special and emotional. Steve Thomas headlines the event, with former Monastery residents Rachel Shock, Graham Eden, Kev Walters, Lee Dagger and Ben McGowan supporting, and the infamous Torbay 4Play DJ’s. Tickets only £12 in adv, and the night runs from 10.30pm -4.30am.
