Here, the world famous DJ talks to 247 Magazine about what fans can expect from the Victoria Park show on 30 July.

You are set to play your only UK solo show of the year in London’s Victoria Park, what can your fans expect from the show?

I can promise that this will be a show that everyone there is sure to remember. I’m proud of my Kaleidoscope album and the production that we created for it and I want the crowd to feel that, so it’s really going to be something special to share with them. It’s going to be an incredible night.

Last year you were the first ever DJ to host an open air concert in Victoria Park. What were the highlights for you? Will you be performing new material this year?

It’s hard to pick out a single moment, the whole event was one of the biggest and best shows I’ve done. The last hour in particular was breathtaking, the crowd was jumping the entire time and it was just pure magic. This year, I’ll be playing a number of tracks from Kaleidoscope as well as a number of new remixes and special edits. I can’t wait to play them for everyone!

You are doing a European tour so pass through a lot of cities, what do you love about London?

London is an unbelievable city. Dance music is a major part of the culture in the UK and it shows, and the city itself has some of the best restaurants and clubs in the world. I always have fun in London!

The Kaleidoscope album features collaborations with Nelly Furtado, Calvin Harris & Kele Okereke from Bloc Party. What collaborations were most appealing for you? Are there any standout favourites for your audiences?

I have been able to work with so many amazing artists on Kaleidoscope it would be really hard for me to think of just one but being able to work with Jónsi from Sigur Rós was a major highlight for me on this album. When I play ‘Feel It In My Bones’, my track featuring Tegan and Sara, out at a show it always injects fresh life into the crowd and I feed off that. ‘I Will Be Here’ and ‘Escape Me’ also get huge responses from the audience.

What is you’re favourite track to play live at the moment?

My collaboration with Diplo, “C’mon On” is getting a strong reaction at the moment.

What can we expect from you for the rest of 2010? Do you have any forthcoming collaboration’s you can reveal?

At the moment, I’m focusing on my European Tour throughout the summer and working to finish the first instalment of my new compilation series, “A New Dawn”, but I have a few things in the works.

As this is the second year in a row you have played a major outdoor gig in London, can we expect it to be a regular date on the annual calendar?

Anything is possible!

How do UK audiences compare to those in the rest of Europe?

UK audiences are a little different than the rest of Europe. Dance music is so engrained in the culture, you really have to have a feel for the cities and the crowds. I always try and bring my freshest sets to the UK, it’s a great way to see what is going to work world-wide and what isn’t.

You are one of the biggest names in dance music, what are your tips to up and coming DJs who want to create a unique sound?

Always push yourself to your limits and don’t be afraid to be bold and take chances with your sound. There are so many ways to gain recognition these days it really comes down to how much time and effort you are willing to give. The harder you work, the bigger you are going to get.

How would you describe your solo shows to someone who hasn’t been before?

Uplifting and full of emotion. Be prepared to dance!
