As night falls an eerie quiet descends over the centre of Bristol. A car has been over turned, a corner shop has been abandoned…then you hear the noises…of hundreds of people moaning and the dragging of feet…coming nearer and nearer. You’d better…RUN! The zombies are coming!
This September igfest, the Interesting Games festival returns to Bristol with citywide fun and games. igfest is Bristol’s very own international event dedicated to turning the city over to play.
The main event of this year’s igfest sees the zombie ‘flash mob’ phenomenon taken to a whole new level. A street game called 2.8 Hours Later has been created where a total of 400 players will be running around at night chased by Horror Film zombies.
The festival is programmed by Bristol based games production company SlingShot. Company and Festival Director Simon Johnson, said: “2.8 Hours Later, the massive zombie chase game is the big night time event. During the day there’s loads of exciting and silly games to choose from. One game may see you fleeing along the harbour side with a hobby horse on your tail, another has you playing snakes and ladders up and down the stairs and ramps of a multi-story car park. Bring your family, bring your friends, and come out and play with us!.”

igfest 3 highlights not to be missed are:

* 2.8 hours later
An exciting experience like nothing else, you and 200 others will be chased through Bristol streets transformed into a nightmarish zombie world. Survive a night in Bristol without becoming a zombie and save the city from apocalypse.

* The Hat Game
‘That’s my hat Sir!’ A GPS enabled bowler hat is set loose in the city. Wear the hat for as long as you can before someone else tracks it down.

* Geoff’s Jousting
Geoff as we all know is very good at jousting…on a little girl’s bike. Challenge Sir Geoffalot at his own game. Tiny bikes, foam lances…lots of goo.

* Uncivil War
A game of ancient taunts and cardboard castles. Only your wits will protect your castle from a barrage of water bombs.

* The Running of the Bulls
Hold onto your gizzards as the bulls are set loose. You want their prize but they want nothing more than to gore out your gory bits…

Igfest 3 will be taking place in the popular St Nicholas Market area is the centre of the action, with local businesses in this buzzing and historic part of central Bristol taking part in the fun and celebration. This year igfest has also joined with Cyclefest, setting you off on city-wide cycle adventures or just playing stupid on two wheels. igfest will definitely be the place to play.
Igfest is in its third year and runs from 17-18th September. Find out more on the igfest website.
