Komedia NYE

Komedia, Bath’s favourite music venue, presents the finale to 2011 with a set list guaranteed to make you bounce: funky hip hop, urban reggae, upbeat break beats – you’ll find it all under one roof at the biggest and happiest music mash up of the year.

The night will bring the hottest collaboration of artists we’ve seen in 2011 including original jungle legend Congo Natty Rebel MC + family, underground dance music master DJ Deekline, and representing the Bristol Sound will be 5 man reggae band Laid Blak.

Headlining act of the night, Congo Natty, will be mixing your favourite jungle style dub plates pushing those warbling rhythms into 2012. Having spent almost a decade in the business, Congo Natty decided to take a step back and embark on a spiritual journey to discover his roots, a trip to his spiritual homeland of Ethiopia in 2007. Now, the rebel is back, determined to champion the cause of the UK’s emerging talent through his renowned label, Congo Natty Recordings. Stepping it up big style as part of the great Congo Natty family live-set are Tenor Fly, Congo Dubz as well as recent additions to the show Nãnci and Pheobe. Expect to hear a hefty mixture of vigorous reggae, gleaming vocals and progressive beatz.

Joining the line-up there will be a rare appearance from the underground dance music master Deekline. Witnessing this ground breaking DJ do his thing in the flesh is a rare, genuine must-see experience: a chance to catch a figure right at the apex of the thriving indie-dance scene. This is an artist who’s always ahead of the game when it comes to the latest sounds, and generally most comfortable when confronted with a set of turntables and the chance to get his scratch on, usually to the delight of the crowd.

Laid Blak – the UK’s leading 5 man reggae band will ensure that there are some true hip hop beats shaking the room, playing a unique set including their latest tracks form the new album. Then onto the delights from the original eclectic masters of the decks – YES it’s the Wheel of Four Tunes spinning it for the last time this year – those lycra threads will wave good bye to 2011.

Decor, lighting & general magic by Electric Night Garden – Komedia will be as never before – high flying bees & butterflies in the giant clouds, for real, not a hallucination – you just have to see it.
