INTERVIEW WITH HIGH CONTRAST

How much are you looking forward to this album launch gig? And how do Welsh crowds differ from others?
It’s always great to play on my home turf. But I try not to do it too often so as to make it more special. And the fact this is the launch party for my first album in 5 years will hopefully make it a very special night indeed. Welsh crowds are always super enthusiastic and up for it.

What’s the thinking behind the album title?
The title seemed to be the most highly contrasting album name I could come up with and describes life as well as the creative process itself.

What themes are covered in the album?
I think the album veers from the supremely uplifting to the deeply melancholic.

What do you think female vocals add to your music?
I use the vocalist, regardless of gender, that I think would work the best for whatever track Im wanting a vocal on. I try to treat a vocal just like another instrument and not let it dominate the rest of the music. But the right vocal can completely lift a piece of music to another level.

Which labelmates are you digging most at the moment?
Im eagerly waiting to hear the new Netsky material and also love what SPY does, I think he’s a great addition to the label roster.

Any other up and coming artists we should be looking out for?
New signings to Hospital Fred V & Grafix show a lot of promise especially for guys so young so keep an eye on them.

What can fans expect from your show next month?
I’ll be showcasing the new album and some vocal tracks will be sung live. I’ll also be mixing visuals live as I dj for the first time.
