The delightful Green Man festival in Wales has launched it’s search to find an unsigned band to open this year’s festival – with a coveted set on the main stage.

Any unsigned band or solo artist can enter Green Man Unsigned but they must be able to upload a video for one of their songs. Go to www.greenman.net/unsigned and follow the simple instructions. The public then votes for their favourite 10 acts via the Green Man Unsigned page. A second Facebook vote decides which five of the 20 remaining acts should go through to our legendary live final at the Camden Monarch on July 19. The final five bands battle it out live with a panel of top music industry experts picking one lucky winner who will open Green Man 2012!

Scores of musicians and bands from the Westcountry and South Wales have already registered to vote, alongside hopefuls from across the country. These include The Klicks from Cornwall, Bristol’s own Schnauser and 247 Magazine favourites My First Tooth. They are now urging fans to vote for them, but clicking like on their entry. Last year, Bristol’s Goan Dogs very nearly made it through to the final, but fell at the last hurdle.

A spokesman for the festival said: “Green Man Unsigned is all about satisfying Green Man’s unquenchable thirst for great new undiscovered music. This is a respected and credible competition with no sponsorship and no corporate tie-ins – voters get just one vote per band in each round of voting, so winning really does mean winning.” They added: “Picture the scene… It’s midday on Friday August 17. You’re about to step out in front of thousands of like-minded music fans and play the very first note on the Mountain Stage at this year’s Green Man!”
