The Oxjam Plymouth Takeover, a music event with forty local bands playing on one night, is set to bring the Plymouth music scene together to help raise money for charity Oxfam on Sunday 21 October.

The Plymouth event, part of a UK-wide festival happening the same weekend in October, will give Plymouth music lovers the chance to see some top local acts playing at six venues in the historic Barbican in Plymouth City Centre.

‘Oxjammers’ will be able to move between six venues with a special Oxjam wristband, which will allow them to see bands including The Scribes, The Normals and Week Night Thieves. Artists have been carefully chosen to cater for a wide range of music including blues, soul, dance, hip hop, rock and much more.

The six venues include Annabel’s Cabaret & Discotheque, BBar & Barbican Theatre, the Gin Distillery, Relegancy Art Gallery and also The Pipe Art Gallery with music starting from 2pm and continuing late into the night. The Oxjam Plymouth Takeover is organised by local people who know and love their local music scene, all in aid of Oxfam.

Event manager, Dominic Pipe, has been working with the Oxjam team of volunteers since June to put together the event, he said: “The 2012 Oxjam Plymouth Takeover is set to be bigger and better than ever – there will be more than just music with circus workshops and lots of fundraising fun organized at the six venues throughout the day on Sunday.”

Oxjam wristbands will cost just £6. For more information about the Oxjam Plymouth Takeover visit www.facebook.com/oxjam.plymouth. To buy your wristband for the event visit: www.oxjamplymouth.co.uk
