BEDMINSTER TO HOST TWO OF BRISTOL’S FINEST CHRISTMAS MARKETS

Bedminster will be transformed with two merry markets and a beautiful lantern parade this Christmas.

North Street will be taken over by a unique Christmas Market on Saturday 8 December at 10am-4pm, with a decidedly local focus. A celebration of seasonal, local produce the markets will showcase a wide range of traders on the street, including arts and crafts, food and drinks and joyous music to bring in the festive spirit, it is an event for the diary this Christmas. On 8 December ‘The Legends of Light’ lantern parade will take to the streets of Bedminster, with handmade lanterns created by the residents of BS3. Organisers Way Out West collaborate with Compass Point and South Street School to raise funds for a stunning parade of illuminated lanterns – large and small – made by local schools, community groups, families and individuals. The event, which starts in South Street Park, will end – weather permitting – with Bedminster’s own seasonal balloon glow provided by the locally based Cameron Balloons.

And on Saturday 15 December at 10am-4pm, it will the turn of East Street to celebrate the festivities and honour ‘all things Bedminster’. Stalls will sell ideal Christmas gifts, while visitors can tuck into a hog roast whilst listening to local music and watching local dance talent. Ben Barker of Bedminster Town Team, commissioned this year to promote the area as part of the Portas Pilot initiative, explains: “Bedminster is the ideal place to get out of the central Bristol shopping areas, enjoy locally sourced produce, and support local businesses.
