This time last year, we were so impressed by some of the street art at Upfest in Bristol that we used it as our front cover – fast forward a year and it’s happened again. The July mag features some of our top pix from the two day paint festival as well as the usual food, culture, film, style, fashion and retail pages. Interview wise, we caught up with indie popsters Athlete who are heading to Cardiff, Bristol and Gloucester for a stripped back tour this month. We also spoke with Louk from Plymouth label Compulzion who recently signed Swansea’s Project Tek. Finally, we went a tad more high brow and looked at the classical music versus pop music debate after seeing Kissy Sell Out attempt to out argue Stephen Fry at Cambridge University. Bizarre indeed. Competition wise, we’ve bagged some £200 Weekend Offender goodie packs to give away too. You gotta be in it to win it!

This month’s West and Wales cover star is the hotly tipped Ed Sheeran. Sheeran’s first headline UK tour was a sell out success so he’s announced more dates for the Autumn as well as a heap of Westcountry festivals. We’ve almost doubled our features count this month and bring you interviews from Battles, Tellison, Kitty Daisy and Lewis and The Computers – all of whom are playing in the region as part of the pre festival gig drive. Out food page looks at ethical eating and previews the Cheltenham Food Festival, the film page has an interview with the Bristol-based director of Eliminate: Archie Cookson and our Snapped page features some pix from last month’s ATP at Butlins in Minehead. This along with all of our regular listings makes for a darn good read we think!

But we realise a £5,000 ticket giveaway is a hard act to follow so we teamed up with South West hip hop duo Carpetface & Audible1 to offer you a free download card for their album. Saddened by the news of The Bluetones’ imminent departure, we also grabbed a chat with Brother who could well hold the key to keeping that Britpop shaped light shining in 2011. Finally, we interviewed the hotly tipped Bristol pop punksters We Start Partys who have been proving quite the hit on Youtube in recent months and it’s not difficult to see why. Our fashion shoot showcased the awesome shops on Bristol’s Park Street with a distinctive outdoor vibe. We also used the opportunity to launch a brand new food section where this month, we recommend our top spots for Al Fresco dining. Street Art is all about Upfest, out favourite live painting festival which takes place in Bristol at the beginning of June. On top of this you’ve got all the usual Style Hunter, Culture & Film, Live & Club listings. So grab a copy and head out to the park and enjoy the sunshine why don’t ya!

Our Ultimate Festival Guide equips you with info about the festival best offerings in the region and beyond, but we haven’t stopped there, we’ve secured a pair of tickets for almost all of our featured festivals to give away. See the online competitions page for more details. Should you fail to win tickets, we tell you how you can still do festivals for free – by volunteering. We also grabbed a quick chat with some of the region’s best festival covers bands, including Cheltenham’s Thrill Collins, Swansea’s DUKes Box and Dorset’s Cash Converted. All this and the usual listings, fashion and street art makes for a bumper 40-page mag for your reading pleasure.

Somehow, we managed to find time between going to gigs to pull together a 40 page March magazine for you! Our cover star is the beautiful Mz Bratt, who plays at the big Infidelity party in Bristol at Lakota on March 19. We also caught up with the fantastically interesting American singer songwriter John Grant, who plays Bristol and Exeter this month. Our third and final band feature is on the up and coming Welsh rockers, Before the Escape, who are set to launch their new EP any day now! Bristol artist Acerone is the star of our Street Art page and the fashion pages feature the finalists of our South West student model search. Comps wise we’ve bagged some McFly gig tickets, Underground Disco CDs and Burke and Hare DVDs. March also sees the launch of the brand new Style Hunter section, cherry picking some stylish folk from the streets of Bristol. On top of this we’ve got all the regular listings for you and photos from the big Hospitality event in Cardiff earlier this year. Enjoy!

We’re back! After a much deserved break and we’re all refreshed and looking forward to the year ahead. There’s been a bit of a gig lull recently but we’re pleased to see things are picking up this month with a bonanza of live music across the region. We’ve cherry-picked some of the highlights to whet your appetite, including a full and frank interview with Super Furry Animals frontman Gruff Rhys, Bath DJ Danny Byrd and London newcomers The Vaccines. Without wanting to overdo the whole Valentine’s Day thing we couldn’t let the month pass without at least a sniff of love so we’ve sprinkled a bit of pink onto the Contents pages with this wonderful illustration. Our retail page also showcases some of the coolest, loosely themed Valentine’s kit around and the fashion shoot – well, well, well, see for yourselves it’s hot to trot and just the right side of kinky! Competitions wise we’ve bagged tickets to some big gigs coming up this month, including the Shockwaves NME Awards Tour (with Crystal Castles, Magnetic Man, Everything Everything and The Vaccines) and the Kerrang! Relentless Energy Drink Tour (with Good Charlotte, Gang Of Four and Framing Hanley). We’re also giving away a copy of the most intriguing sequal ever – Titanic 2. On top of this we’ve got all of our regular listings, the latest Street Art news and some awesome animal pics from Bristol Thekla’s New Year’s Eve Noah’s Ark bash. Happy Belated New Year!
Men across the region will be sporting Mos this month and we got in on the act by dotting tashes around the mag and bagging some fab tash prizes for one lucky reader who can correctly tell us how many Mos we’ve hidden in the mag. But that’s not the only free stuff we’re giving away this month. We’ve got a pair of ladies Duffs and a pair of men’s to give away as part of our trainer themed Retail Therapy page and we’ve teamed up with 20th Century Fox to offer 247 readers a pair of tickets to an exclusive screening of Unstoppable in Cardiff – over a week before it is released to cinemas nationwide. That’s not the only collaboration we’re doing this Winter and we are very excited to announce our involvement with the Bristol-based indie label Dreamboat Records to bring you the first ever Dreamboat Presents festival in association with 247 Magazine. Our cover star is Wiltshire musician Gabby Young who is playing a homecoming gig in Swindon this month. We also caught up with former Bristol DJ Redlight as he prepares to play Cardiff. Finally, we’ve got almost 25 music reviews and all your regular culture, film, live and club listings – giving you your essential guide to the month ahead!

Don’t you just love Autumn? From the colourful trees and conkers to the warming wardrobe change, scarves, hats and boots or the hearty soups to indulgent hot chocolates and the cold dark nights hauled up in a pub or a leisurely stroll on a crisp day? Let’s face it, we live in the best region in the UK and it’s this time of year that it really comes alive. The students are back filling the pubs, bars and clubs with a vibrancy sadly lacking in the summer months and bands swap their 40 minute sets at festivals for generous two hour shows on full UK Autumn tours. What’s more, there are plenty of significant dates for the old calendar including the official end of British Summertime and Halloween.

With this in mind, we’ve gone all out on the spooky theme for a Day of the Dead style fashion shoot – shot in some eerie woodland in Somerset. We’ve also nabbed some Halloweeney items for the Retail Therapy page, which was shot in a Devon graveyard. Ooooohhh. And have we ever let you down when it comes to comps? We’re giving away VIP tickets to The Big Reunion in Skegness, tickets to The Relentless Freeze Festival in London and more film goodies for a handful of lucky readers.

To celebrate the release of the hotly tipped and self-titled debut album by Dubstep pioneers Magnetic Man, not only have we reviewed it on out newly revamped Music pages – which now feature even more album and demo reviews – but we caught up with Benga for a quick chat ahead of a series of gigs in the region. In other music news we’ve got an interview with the young 20-something popstar of the moment Eliza Doolittle and the genre-defying Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip.

And this is all on top of our regular film, culture, club and live listings…what more could you need?
