CALLING ALL WRITERS (and listeners…) – GET DARKE WITH TELLTALES!

Decrease Font Size Increase Font Size Text Size Print This Page

telltales-volume-vii_imageLaunched in October 2008, Telltales is a successful monthly event at Babahogs in Falmouth, where writers can read out their work and listeners can hear it. From poetry and short stories to novel extracts and scripts, anything goes, the only requirement for a piece of work to be read is that its an original piece of writing that will engage and excite listeners.

Telltales always has a theme, and this month, things get a little dark as they join forces with the Darke Visions Festival to celebrate the life and work of Cornwall’s foremost playwright.  Under the theme of Darke Visions, writers are invited to submit work that plays with the theme in any way.  Seven pieces will then be selected for the programme to be read by the authors on the night.

Submitting work couldn’t be easier – simply log onto the Telltales website and upload the writing you’d like to read and if your piece fits the bill you’ll be scheduled in.

The next Telltales, Volume IV: Darke Visions, kicks off at 7pm on 26 May, at Babahogs cafe in Falmouth (on Well Lane, off Market Street) – you can bring your own alcohol (£1 corkage) or drink your fill of the tea, coffee or soft drinks on sale.

And if you’d rather use your ears than your mouth, that’s fine too – listeners are just as important as readers at Telltales.  If you’re interested in finding out more about Telltales VII: Darke Visions or submitting a piece to read, log on to wordslikepictures/telltales or email clare@wordslikepictures.com.
