eys-1Cornish dance company Cscape will be performing at Glastonbury Festival next weekend (26-28 June) with its original piece of work, Enjoy Your Stay.  Event management company Event Cornwall bagged the gig for the trio, who will perform on the Blazing Saddle and Glebeland Riser stages during the three-day festival.

Cscape is fresh back from the US, where the company performed in Kneehigh Theatre’s Don John as part of a national and international tour.  Enjoy Your Stay combines Cscape’s infectiously humorous blend of physical theatre with the sharp writing and stylish wit of one of Britain’s most acclaimed performance poets, Murray Lachlan Young.

Funded by FEAST, Arts Council England South West, Creative Skills and The Works, the dynamic collaboration delves into the second homes debate, blending delicious dance with a good pinch of wit and cynicism.

Described as “wickedly funny” the piece explores the tragic but humorously Cornish demise of three second homeowner’s wives.  Cscape’s Sally Williams, who choreographed the piece, said: “I am so excited to be able to showcase my work at this legendary festival.  It’s fantastic that they are supporting dance this year and I hope we can build on this link in the future.  We are also really excited to be showing this work in particular as the second homes debate is an important issue for us and it’s great to be able to bring our work to new audiences on a national stage.”  The piece will be performed by Cscape’s artistic directors Helen Tiplady and Sally Williams with a special guest appearance from Kate Mason.

Claire Eason-Bassett, director at Event Cornwall, said: “Cscape represents the best of Cornwall’s creative talent and they absolutely deserve their place performing alongside national and international artists.”
