Hang On Fridays scheme launches in Truro
A scheme encouraging people to ‘hang on’ after work hours and enjoy Truro on Friday nights launches this month.
Hang On Fridays will take place on the last Friday of each month, conveniently coinciding with payday, and pulls together Truro’s favourite bars and restaurants. Participating businesses will be providing additional events, entertainment and offers on Hang On Fridays.
Launched by Totally Truro Business Improvement District (BID), venues signed up so far include One Eyed Cat, Vertigo, Vanilla, Bunters, Indaba Fish and Archie Browns.
Neil Scott, BID manager says: “Truro has an unrivalled range of quality bars, restaurants and cafes – there’s already a real buzz in the city centre, particularly on Saturday nights. Hang on Fridays aims to build that buzz into Fridays, capturing the ‘Friday feeling’. We expect this to be a very popular scheme with both customers and businesses throughout Truro – any business involved with the evening economy is encouraged to come on board.”
Brett Holmes, Director of the One Eyed Cat Bar and Brasserie in Kenwyn Street says: “We think Hang on Fridays is a fantastic idea. Truro is the commercial heart of Cornwall with a really diverse range of businesses and people working in the city, but which is also far more than just a place to work. Giving people who work in Truro a monthly opportunity to mix in a relaxed and informal atmosphere is a great idea and we are delighted to be part of this initiative.”

Events for Friday July 31:
One Eyed Cat: From 5.30pm One Eyed Cat will be offering free bar snacks and canapés to suppress those hungry bellies and allow a drink or two to flow. From 6pm James Bunce will be playing some relaxing background acoustic guitar tunes to ease you into the weekend…. The Cat will also have several cocktail promotions running and a very warm welcome a-waiting.
Bunters: Bunters Bar will be supporting Truro’s first ‘Hang On Friday’ with a cocktail sampling evening to celebrate the launch of the pub’s summer cocktail menu. Customers will be given the chance to try a taste or two of our cocktails and let us know if it makes them feel like a cast member from ‘Sex and the City’. Bunters will also be giving any budding Tom Cruises the chance to design their own cocktail, with the best one being made available to customers during August in Bunters, as the customer recommended ‘Cocktail of the month’.
Indaba Fish: ‘Fish Friday 3 course meal with friends for only £15’
For the last Friday of every month, Indaba Fish are laying on an exceptional early evening 3-course dining treat between 5:30pm – 6:45pm. A great opportunity after a long week at work to relax and enjoy Truro in the evening with friends and colleagues – and no washing up!
Vertigo: Friday Fizz – buy a bottle and get free Tapas between 5pm and 7 pm
Vanilla: Celebrating the launch of its new summer cocktail menu, Vanilla will be offering all cocktails at the special Hang on Friday price of £5.00 (until 7pm). Fancy wine instead?
