teenage-rampage-tour-4The Teenage Rampage tour hits Exeter and Gloucester this weekend with performances from the very best teenage bands and artists in the South West.

The first of this weekend’s gigs is at the Exeter Phoenix on Friday 24 July and sees a special guest slot from last year’s tour competitors The Locarnos.  Since last year’s Teenage Rampage tour The Locarnos have gone on to be favourites at Radio 1 and 6 Music, touring the UK and playing shows at Glastonbury (again with Radio 1), and Latitude festivals and the NME recently said about the band,  “These Westcountry boys offer devastatingly heartfelt shimmer-pop and hooks you could hang a picture of The Killers on.”

Competing at Exeter Phoenix are Exeter’s finest local acts the Terrible Strangers, Hailing Star, The Sherpas and Marianne Totterdale, who will be performing live from 7pm but if you’re an aspiring young musician or are interested in a career in the music industry then make sure you head down early for the Industry Insight sessions from 5pm.  Presented by Bristol Music Foundation, the Industry Insight sessions are chance to meet music industry experts and learn about careers in the industry from experienced professionals including Conal Dodds, Oasis’ promoter, and Chris Morrison, Blur’s manager.  And then on Saturday 25 July, the Teenage Rampage Tour heads to Gloucester’s Guildhall Cinema for an acoustic night with Midnight Mile with guest competitors The Echoes, Laurie Wright and Atakarma.  Entry is £4 with live music from 7.30pm and Bristol Music Foundation Industry Insights Sessions from 6.30pm.

Speaking about the tour, Conal Dodds of Metropolis Music said, “Teenage Rampage gives young bands in the South West the chance of a lifetime to play great gigs and learn about the big old world that is the music biz from some old faces like me.  I’m looking forward to catching some great bands.  What an opportunity for some of them to get to play at the big gig in Bristol!”

Tom Friend of Island and 679 Records said of the competition; “When I started out trying to get into the industry there was nothing like Teenage Rampage around that would have helped me out and made sense of a crazy world. Teenage Rampage gives young bands a real chance to get noticed and really learn to improve what they do. I can’t wait to see some more of the young bands!”
