sw1-teenage-rampageThe final weekend of The Teenage Rampage Tour heats will see three days of live music with the very finest young talent from across the region.  The hugely successful eight stop search for the South West’s best teenage musicians will begin it’s heat finale in Falmouth on Thursday 13 Aug with a special headline set from guest band the Holloways, before heading to Swindon on Friday 14 Aug and finishing up on Saturday 15 Aug in Plymouth at The White Rabbit.

With ten individual acts to play over the weekend the 2009 Teenage Rampage Tour has seen the most talented young artists competing against each other to win the opportunity to perform alongside a national headliner at the newly developed Colston Hall, Bristol, in September.  Immediately after this weekend’s South West heats the ‘semi-finalists’ will be announced which will then be passed onto a panel of music industry figureheads to choose the four acts to play at the final in Bristol next month.

Opening this weekend’s heats from 6pm at Falmouth’s Princess Pavilion are Oracy, Martin Skews, and Make Me A Hero who will go head-to-head before one act opens for the Hollaways that evening.  On Friday evening The Boy Done Good, Napoleon In Rags, The Rubix and Theo Altieri take to stage from 7.30pm at The Furnace in Swindon following the “Industry Insight sessions” from 5pm which are a must for any young person interested in a career in music, providing the opportunity to meet industry experts and learn about the variety of music careers available. The sessions are free and will also run from 4-5pm at The White Rabbit in Plymouth on Saturday before The Orkid, The Teleheads and Laughing at the Randoms get ready to play from 6pm.

Speaking about the tour Tim Wright, Project Coordinator at Bristol Music Foundation, said, “The Teenage Rampage Tour is a fantastic opportunity for young musicians in the region to be recognised and gain valuable experience through both playing live on stage and being critiqued by leading professionals to each of the Industry Insights sessions. We really hope everyone will get behind their favourite local acts at each venue and help them to reach the Colston Hall final”.

The Teenage Rampage Tour final is part of a week of events to celebrate the opening of the £20 Million foyer development of Colston Hall that includes an appearance from world-renowned DJ and producer Roni Size (click here for info on the Back2Back DJ competition where you can win a chance to go back to back with Roni Size, Joker and DJ Quest at Colston Hall on 19 Sept).  As well as the opportunity to play at the final event the Teenage Rampage Tour is also offering selected South West teens a chance to win studio time to lay down a track, have their songs feature on the official “Teenage Rampage Tour 2009” compilation CD and have the chance to be assigned an industry mentor and team built around their act.

You can support your favourite local acts and hear the bands of the future at the live music events in Falmouth on Thursday 13 August at Princess Pavilion from 6pm, The Furnace in Swindon from 7.30pm on Friday 14 August (£3 adv, £4 door) with Industry Insights Sessions from 5pm, and on Saturday 15 August from 6pm at The White Rabbit in Plymouth (£2 entry) with Industry Insight from 4pm.  Go to
