Oxjam is Oxfam’s massive UK wide music festival, where thousands of musicians across hundreds of venues nationwide come together to create an entire month of music dedicated to raising money for the charity. Tickets for Exeter Oxjam are now on sale from Exeter Phoenix Box Office and We Got Tickets for just £5 (plus booking fee) which includes entry to all the venues in Exeter taking part.  Since 2006, more than 36,000 musicians have played to an audience of over 750,000 people at almost 3,000 Oxjam events, raising in excess of £1 million to fight poverty around the world.

The highlight of the month-long festival will be the Oxjam Takeover on Sunday 25 October, when more than 2000 musicians will fill over 150 venues in more than 20 cities in a single day to raise funds for Oxfam. Exeter is no exception this year, with a one day event taking place across six of the city’s venues.

Exeter Phoenix will be host to some local punk and indie bands from 3pm – 11pm, including The Ruby Tuesdays, Kosmo Kings, Count To Fire, Terrible Strangers and Collectiv, to name just a few.

For those wishing to reminisce about bands gone by, John Gandys will be hosting jazz from James Canter at 2pm and The Fab Beatles from 8pm, with some fab drink promotions on offer.

Coolings will be hosting a more laid back and intimate atmosphere featuring some great folk and acoustic acts along with a very special surprise guest who will only be announced on the day, this is definitely worth catching and will truly be worth an early Sunday afternoon start (from 2pm – 9.30pm) with acts like Ben Murphy, Kate Mason, Mike Porter and many more performing.

Local DJs will be banging out the tunes in the main room of Timepiece, so expect some crazy beats and dancing feet to last into the early hours.

Joining in with the festival vibe will be Pitcher and Piano, where a more chilled vibe will be on offer with laid back tunes.

One of this year’s highlights is going to be the live hip hop sets in the Hole in the Wall’s new Underground club expecting to run from 6pm till late with various DJs including Loctite, Boomrun and Mix Masta Mullet and performances from around ten live acts including Jackie Chat, Project Cee and Sleaze.
