247 LIVE ON PHONIC 106.8FM WELCOMES VICKI BARNES (& LIVE MUSIC SESSIONS PLANNED FOR NEXT YEAR)
For a good while now, writer, journo, musician and DJ (and all round super showbiz chap) Arash Torabi has been representing ‘pon de mic and holding down the airwaves on the 247 Magazine Live show on Exeter’s Phonic 106.8FM. He does a sterling job of bringing you hot new music, the freshest news and loads more every other Saturday from 2pm – 4pm. But now, we are very excited to announce that Arash has a new co-host as super cool girl-about-town Vicki Barnes (pictured) joins the show.
She told us, “We are looking to bring live music sessions to the studio in the new year, so anyone who is interested in playing live on Phonic FM needs to let us know – email 247@outofhand.co.uk.” Alongside Arash, Vicki will be highlighting the talk of the town and what’s hot when the weather’s not in the South West. They’ll also be broadcasting great interviews, gig reviews and competitions to the listeners, with prizes from gig tickets to cool gadgets. Vicki’s a Welsh girl at heart, but she lives in Plymouth and knows and loves the South West just as much as we do.
And what sort of music will she be playing? “Ooh, absolutely everything,” she told us. “Give me the Soulwax/2ManyDJs mix of Dolly Parton’s ‘9 to 5’ with Destiny’s Child’s ‘Bootylicious’ any day. Throw in Vampire Weekend, Paloma Faith, the mighty Florence, Plymouth talent Kat Marsh, a little Ugly Duckling, Jay Z, Dizzee and N.E.R.D too… Anything I can sing or shake my booty to! I’ve got a big love for Tom Jones and Shirley Bassey (back to my Welsh roots)!” Vicki will be on air with Arash on 14 November and then again on 12 December.
