The Cornwall Film Festival takes place in Falmouth this weekend (13 – 15 Nov) featuring a host of treats for the eyes, including Cornish made short films, a special screening of climate-change blockbuster ‘Age Of Stupid’ and premieres of films (some weeks or months ahead of general release) including ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ and ‘Disgrace’. Highlights include:

New for this year, a combination of dance and film. Dance Films I on 13 November at Phoenix Cinema 4 features historic, seminal and groundbreaking films that create a moving snapshot of Britain’s prolific screen dance output. Dance Films II on 14 November at Phoenix Cinema 5 profiles leading dance for camera work from dance and filmmaker collaborations in Cornwall and the South West. This collection includes work by Cscape in collaboration with Mark Jenkin, Dan Farberoff, All a Scrawl, Emily Dobson and Brett Harvey and many others.

And, the Another Country International Short Film Award takes place on 15 November at Phoenix Cinema 4. The Cornwall Film Festival’s international short film competition returns for a second year, showcasing outstanding films from around the world. Cornish audiences will be among the first in the country to see a selection of the best films from up-and-coming international filmmakers. Films in this category are eligible for the £1,000 Another Country International Short Film Award. Audiences have been voting on these films around the county throughout the autumn. The final votes will be taken on 15 November so collect your voting slip from the Information Desk, or upon entry to Screen 4.
