Littlesouth’s annual competition to find Cornwall’s No.1 DJ has come to an end with a clear winner for 2009 – Ryan R. Ryan has been a main player in the Cornish clubs and bars throughout 2009 and received over 5000 Cornish votes! The 2009 competition smashed last year’s record number of votes with a staggering 12,000 unique and verified votes cast. Full information about Ryan and his new found status as Cornwall’s DJ of the Year 2009 can be found online at www.littlesouth.com.

Here’s what Ryan had to say about his win…

ryan_r_dj_of_the_year_2009WOW!!! What a year, and what an honour to be voted Littlesouth DJ of the Year, to say I’m pretty damn chuffed is an understatement.  Especially with only joining the Littlesouth roster at the beginning of 09, and being the new kid on the block, it was bit of a shock when told i was the winner, especially with all the seriously talented DJs the South West has to offer.

Without a shadow of a doubt, 2009 has been by far the best year of my DJing career.  Highlights include having the honour of being resident on the Hedkandi nights at Pure Newquay, getting to warm up with really talented DJs and producers like Wez Clarke, Andy Norman, David Dunne, Carl Hannaghan, Phil Faversham and pretty much all of the Hedkandi guys, and being a house DJ myself, that really was a big deal for me.  More recently I’ve had the honour of warming up for the Freemasons –  wow!! Also there are all the other amazing local DJs I’ve played with and the venues and nights I’ve been lucky to be part of – local nights such as DeluxX, Jack U, the Poldark parties, and getting booked to play at pretty much all of the best venues Cornwall has to offer.

Looking back it really blows my mind what I achieved in 2009, and now looking forward to 2010, I can’t wait to get stuck in, as the Cornwall scene is going from strength to strength. I’m looking seriously into getting a studio built, as music production is something I’ve been toying around with for the last 12 months, but am really looking forward to taking it to the next level now. Also looking forward to being part of the DeluxX and Jack U stables and seeing how we can push that; the success DeluxX has had over the last 18 months has been staggering. Also I will be continuing my weekly Radio show on www.wtchouseradio.com every Thursday from 8pm – 10pm.

Last but not least, I’ve gotta give some big thank yous to a lot of peeps who have supported me from day one.  Big ups to Martin Cornish (Mr DeluxX), me old pal and fellow DJ Lee Ellis, Matt Exelby who makes Littlesouth tick, and all the other aspiring DJs and promoters in Cornwall who are helping make the scene what it is today.  A special thanks to Lynsey for always supporting me and leading the troops from the front on the dance floors. And the biggest thanks goes to every one of you, who took time to vote for me, or to listen to a podcast of mine, or come to a gig of mine, you’re the reason us DJs love doing this so much. Here’s to a blinding 2010, Stick er out!!

Big Luv

Ryan R
