Once upon a time in St Ives, there was a Reverend John Berriman, who liked to unwind with a spot of experimental cooking in his spare time. Sitting in his kitchen one day, as his latest creation bubbled away in the oven, he sipped some of his tasty homemade cola and stared at a pile of his freshly picked homegrown chillies on the table. “What to do with these fiery little blighters?” he thought, as he took another sip… And then, ha! A flash of divine inspiration! “Why not infuse the cola with a dash of chilli to give it a bit of a kick, like that fiery ginger beer stuff but even nicer? A lusciously warm sensation in the back of the throat…a playful tingle on the tongue…wrapped up in a sweet, bubbly and refreshing cola drink?” The rest of the story is a testament to hard work and a divine pair of taste buds. Reverend Berriman’s now produce a range of deliciously different soft drinks, including Cola with a hint of chilli – which delivers the cool, refreshing taste you would expect from a cola but follows up with a delightful warming of the taste buds thanks to the subtle chilli undertones (perfect all year round and the ideal mixer to add a little interest to your favourite tipple), a diet cola with a hint of chilli, and a sparkling apple drink with a hint of chilli… As with his Cola drinks, and thanks to his special refining process, Reverend Berriman has managed to extract the heat from the chillies with great subtlety, meaning after a few sips you’ll enjoy a great apple taste, gently spiced with a warm and tingly afterglow.
Resolving to spread the taste and share the love far and wide, Reverend Berriman set up his own soft drinks company that would also support vital social projects close to his heart.
