In a break from the norm of booking indie and rock acts, the Eden Sessions have included a more dance focus night into this years Session season. Radio 1’s queen of dance, Annie Mac and Jon McClure’s Reverend Soundsystem will play at the Eden Sessions on July 3, joining Calvin Harris and Audio Bullys in a stacked line-up. Annie is an acclaimed DJ, hosting nights at some of the world’s top clubs and presents the prestigious Friday evening Radio One show at 7pm every week. She also co-hosts a Sunday evening show on the station with Nick Grimshaw and is a regular contributor to BBC2’s The Culture Show.

The Dublin-born Annie is famed for the promoting underground electronic scene, with a focus on electro, dubstep, drum and bass, hip-hop and disco. She was also named Best Female DJ at last year’s National Drum and Bass Awards. Meanwhile, Reverend Soundsystem, the dance wing of Sheffield indie rockers Reverend and the Makers, complete the line-up. Frontman Jon McClure started the Soundsystem as a monthly club night at Sheffield’s The Plug and now tours festivals and clubs around the country.

At Eden the Soundsystem will feature the DJ and producer Jagz Kooner who has worked with bands including Manic Street Preachers, Primal Scream, Kasabian and Massive Attack. Musicians Laura McClure and Marcus Smith will also feature. The Soundsytem will be brought to the Sessions by Cape Farewell and will be playing on a stage in the Mediterannean Biome.

Headliner, Calvin Harris is one of the most exciting and successful UK dance artists with two solo albums – I Created Disco and the UK number one Ready for the Weekend storming the charts. Calvin has successfully worked on a number of high-profile collaborations, including Dance Wiv Me with BRIT-winning Dizzee Rascall, a song that was named Best Dancefloor Filler at last year’s NME Awards. Calvin was also nominated in the British Male Solo Artist category at this year’s BRITS.

The old skool artist on the line-up, Audio Bullys, aka Simon Franks and Tom Dinsdale, released their 2003 debut Ego War to huge acclaim and a top 20 chart position and followed it in 2005 with Generation. The latter featured probably their most famous tune to date – the Nancy Sinatra-sampling Shot You Down, which hit number 3 in the UK singles chart. Following a hiatus, Audio Bullys released their long-anticipated third album Higher Than the Eiffel at the end of last month, with the promise of an exciting live show to accompany it.

The Sessions are famed not only for bringing top acts to Cornwall but also for their festival feel, with extra bands and entertainers playing around the site in the run-up to the main event. Massage and alternative therapies will also be showcased around Eden on the day of each Session.

The 2010 Sessions will be the ninth season of summer gigs at the Eden Project. Performers in previous years include Oasis, Kasabian, Florence and the Machine, Vampire Weekend, Paul Weller, Hot Chip, Muse, Editors, Snow Patrol, Basement Jaxx, Amy Winehouse, Moby, PJ Harvey and The Verve.
