After a hearing with Cardiff Council this morning, the issue of noise abatement at The Globe, Cardiff has finally been put to rest and the venue’s licence has been reinstated.

The venue will be allowed to open from 12 noon until 12 Midnight, Sunday to Thursday and from 12 noon to 1am on Friday and Saturday. Music will be allowed up to 11.30pm from Sunday to Thursday and until 12.30am on Friday and Saturday.

Councillor Ed Bridges who chaired the licensing committee said: “We are pleased to grant this application, which permits live music at The Globe, and we are confident that the venue can now operate without causing any disturbance to local residents. Now that the work has been completed and tests have shown that the sound-proofing has made a significant improvement, we are very happy to permit live music to take place at The Globe again. Cardiff has a thriving live music scene, and venues like The Globe are a vital part of it.”

Alan Jones, who runs The Globe, said “We’re delighted that we can open our doors again. We want to thank all our customers, the band and our supporters who came to fundraising shows or donated money or joined up to our mailing lists and Facebook Groups to pledge support. Great gigs and great customers are the heart and soul of The Globe and we’ll be back open from tonight with some cracking shows. We worked hard alongside the Council to meet the necessary sound proofing requirements and we’re very happy that we can now operate without causing any nuisance to our neighbours. We’re very much part of the community in Roath and in Cardiff and it’s wonderful that we can once again bring live music to the city.”
