REVIEW: NATIONAL PASTIME – MY STAR HAS FALLEN
National Pastime
My Star Has Fallen
(Pastime Records)
Exeter’s kings of lo-fi indie-pop drop ‘the unofficial album’ with some new material plus a few reworked live favourites from their debut, Short Stories. Recorded by the band themselves, My Star Has Fallen has a rough, DIY feel, reminiscent of the first wave of British indie sound (think Sarah Records or early Creation). The band are busy recording their second album proper with local studio wiz and in-house Pop Noise Records producer, Andy Fonda at Off The Rails Studio.
National Pastime launch My Star Has Fallen at Exeter’s City Gate Cellar Bar on Friday May 28th at 8.30pm. Entry is free and support comes from brand new locals, Bright Lights Big Zombie, alongside Pop Noise regular, Matthew Stead.
