TRURO MUSIC FESTIVAL

An impressive line up of events has been put together as part of Music Truro, which is expected to attract up to 15,000 people. Dozens of bars, restaurants, galleries and other venues have already signed up support the festivities taking place from Saturday, September 11 to Sunday, September 19 throughout Truro. Things to look out for include buskers in the streets and special live nights at various venues across the city.

SUNDAY 12
Sounds of the City
Playing in various locations throughout the city including Lemon Quay, Victoria Square, High Cross and Pydar Street. From male voice choir to singer/songwriters and from concert bands to buskers, the streets will be full of all kinds of music throughout the afternoon.

Two of the finest folk song writers this side of the Tamar both of whom have a reputation for quality music throughout Cornwall.

A local singer/songwriter who plays a variety of acoustic covers and her own material.

Artists from all backgrounds will have the chance to get their music heard by the influential panel of experts
6.00 – 8.00pm
Cream of Cornish Showcase at The Office
A night of live music from the cream of musical talent in Cornwall. Curated by the Music Truro media partners, it will showcase a range of established bands from around the county.

The Winter Mountain Band at Vertigo
The Winter Mountain Band are a folk harmony duo. 9pm
DJ Wrighty at Vanilla
A mixture of funk, breakbeat, drum & bass with the possibility of a little live music mixed into the night! 10pm
Relentless at Kasbah
The music, the look, and the energy this band creates makes you feel like you are watching the real thing. Local band that plays tributes to 80’s and 90’s

Rebel Cell at Hall for Cornwall
Set in a police interview room, the two men lock horns in a daring and vivacious battle of political ideologies. Using multi-media projections, real time camera work and a live scratch DJ, the audience is taken back to 2010 to scenes which reveal a turbulent history between Dizraeli and Brinkman. Broadway Karaoke at MI Bar
MI Bar will be giving Cornwall the chance to grab the microphone and hail tribute to their Broadway favourites! There will be prizes for the best and worst performers on the night.

Come and enjoy a fine evening of ale and live music with local band, The Bucket Boys.

Revelations Rock Metal night at The Office
A packed night, full of the very best of rock.

SATURDAY 18

Busking competition
At various locations throughout the city street entertainers will bring the city alive with music.

Samba City
Following on from a morning of musical workshops, musicians bring the unexpected to Truro as players from across the city bring the streets alive with samba beats.

SUNDAY 19
An evening of Music & Art at The Riverbank
Enjoy the sounds of local, live music
7.30pm
Sing-a-long- The Sound of Music at Garras Wharf car park
For one night only Truro will be alive with the Sound of Music, so bring your own chairs and wrap up warm for a special outdoor screening of this classic film on Garras Wharf.
