FREEPOUR COCKTAIL COMPETITION
Falmouth is set to witness the hottest cocktail competition this Autumn as London’s finest bartenders travel to Cornwall to take on the best of the ‘South & West’ – and you can take a front row seat.
On 26th September, Pernod Ricard UK – the company behind brands such as ABSOLUT, Havana Club and Jameson – will host ‘Freepour’ at Falmouth Pavilions, and you* are invited to come down to witness the competition, sample some cocktails and taste some of the finest local food Cornwall has to offer.
The free event opens at 2pm and runs through until midnight. Live music acts, including bands and DJs, will keep you entertained throughout the day and local restaurants will be offering their produce for tasting. Food will also be available down on the beach at Wheel House Crab and Oyster bar, The Courtyard Deli, Provedore Tapas Bar and Origin Coffee.
Bars representing the ‘South & West’ include Eight Bar in Falmouth, Seattle Hotel in Brighton, Haus Bar and Hermanos Bar in Bristol, The Bikeshed in Exeter and Plain and Fancy Drinks in Winchester. They will be up against some of London’s best as they battle for the opportunity to win a trip to Havana in Cuba, home of Havana Club rum. Expect to see shakers fly as some of the UK’s best bartenders face the challenge of producing innovative cocktails using Beefeater Gin, Plymouth Gin, Havana Club rum, Chivas Regal Whisky and ABSOLUT vodka.

They will get to see, first hand, the talent behind some of the finest bars in the South of England and London, while also getting a rare chance to talk to top drinks industry experts who will be on hand to offer tips on making that perfect cocktail to impress friends and family. On top of all that, people can also sample food from some of the region’s best restaurants and relax to the chilled vibe of our live DJs. A great way to round out summer.”
Competition mechanic:
Round one: Create a gin classic in three minutes using Beefeater 24 (if from London) and Plymouth Gin (if from the South & West).
Round two: Show natural flair by making a Havana Club creation with a selection of ingredients chosen by the judges and only given to contestants after the first round.
Round three: The final round of Freepour embraces the approach of autumn by asking remaining bartenders to pull together a ‘farewell to summer’ using ABSOLUT vodka, as well as a cocktail creation of their choice using Chivas Regal 18 year-old Scotch Whisky to welcome the colder months.
* All entrants must be adults aged 18+ years.
