Even though festival season seems like a distant flare on the horizon, the Sunrise team is already in full swing dreaming up all sorts of new and exciting additions to the 2011 event, taking place from the 2nd – 5th June on the beautiful organic fields of Gilcombe Farm, Bruton, Somerset. This 10,000 person event is filled with great music, the best Somerset has to offer in organic food and drink, with all manner of weird and wonderful things to experience, all run on 100% sustainable energy. Famous for its ‘organically-grown good vibes’ Sunrise has been running successfully for the last 5 years and with each year seeing the quality of production rising. It has been hailed by many critics as the “dawning of a new age in festival culture” and has also been accused of having the ability to “dangerously dull your cynicism”.

2011 sees the introduction of the ‘Elemental Stage’ a new outdoor stage in the Carnival Field – which along with the Chai Wallahs main indoor stage and the 7 other smaller stages will be host to all the bands and entertainment Sunrise is famous for.

In 2011 things will also be stepping up a gear on the music front with the introduction of some great headline acts to be announced soon, but so far, the following are booked to apprear: The Beat, Johnny Flynn & the Sussex Wit, System7, The Traveling band, Seize The Day, Zen Elephant, Mankala, The People’s String Foundation, Tin Roots, Gabby Young & Other Animals, Coco’s Lovers, Extra Curricular……and many more to follow

“Sunrise has always been about pushing the boundaries, showcasing talent and art which is at the cutting edge of culture and stepping into the new age of green evolution. More and more people are coming to the festival every year, many of them cynics, and falling in love with one of the few remaining totally independent festivals. The heart and originality of Sunrise inspire many to change their lives in small or big ways and everyone, from London city workers to hardcore greenies, can come together, learn new skills and discuss important planetary issues while enjoying a great party” says Dan Hurring, Sunrise organiser.
