The regional finals of the UK’s Live and unsigned competition take place in Cardiff this weekend. Live and Unsigned is the biggest unsigned music competition, giving the opportunity for fresh-faced bands to expose and showcase their talent. Thousands of unsigned acts entered the competition earlier in the year, now they have whittled it down to the talented few and sent them to the finals in Cardiff on 20th March to showcase in front of an audience of music lovers and a panel of industry judges. The only rule for musicians is that it is 100% live in front of the judging panel – scrapping pre-recordings and demos – making Live and Unsigned so unique amidst other music competitions. The Willows in Cardiff will be hosting the event with a judging panel set to include, Radio 1’s Annie Nightingale, Ras Kwame and Tom Deacon; Kerrang’s Alex B and R ‘n’ B Star Shola Ama. Bands will be playing in the shadow Sandi Thom who will be headlining the string of up and coming acts. The host of talent spotters means that the winning act win the full industry package including a management and recording contract, UK tour, clothing, studio time and festival slots.
