Green Man Festival, which takes place from August 19-21, is a definite front-runner for the prize for most beautiful festival setting. Set in the Brecon Beacons the hill-encased Glanusk Deer Park comes complete with a lovely lake, tall and brooding Douglas Firs forest and of course the signatory giant Green Man. The walled garden is the place to be after hours with some top DJs and acts. The rest of the time you’ll want to catch some of the best indie, folk and Americana acts around including Fleet Foxes, Villagers, Explosions in the Sky, The Low Anthem, Holy Fuck, Ellen and the Escapades, Bellowhead, Holy Fuck, The Leisure Society, Dry The River, The Gentle Good and more. Chai Wallah’s is there for late night entertainment and it is in that area you will find the giant green man, which is burned on the last night. Pagan! There’s a whole science area – Einstein’s Garden – to fuel your brain with new scientific info. Last year’s Sperm Warfare show with Simon Watt went down a treat!
