Bristol’s most famous free event took place at the weekend – the annual St Paul’s Carnival. Alongside the colourful carnival procession, awesome authentic food and flowing rivers of booze, the Red Bull Music academy put the Arty into Party will a kick ass soundsystem and enviable line up.

It is estimated that more than 80,000 people took to the streets of St Paul’s in Bristol on Saturday and it was new addition Red Bull Music Academy’s Soundsystem that reverberated furthest and widest from the corner of St Pauls Park. Bringing a roster of some of the biggest names in good time carnival sounds, bass-heavy vibes and upfront dance music, the line-up featured Reggae legend David Rodigan, a four hour set from Roller Express – otherwise known as Redlight + Toddla T – featuring guest DJ sets from Joker, Zinc and Donaeo as well as appearances from local heroes Futureboogie and Team Love. Adding world-class artists but keeping in the spirit of the event, now in its 44th year, the Red Bull Music Academy soundsystem continued the brand’s history of supporting some of the UK’s hottest music events.

The St Pauls Carnival party was one of a global series of events and festival partnerships by Red Bull Music Academy, including a return to Notting Hill for a fourth consecutive year this August. To listen for free to related live sets, interviews and mixes, go to www.redbullmusicacademyradio.com
