NICKY BLACKMARKET TO HEADLINE HAMSWELL FESTIVAL 2011
Tired of traipsing miles across muddy fields to get your fill of great music? Sick of losing your mates at massive festivals? Hamswell is the South West’s most intimate congregation of music and live art, with a famously friendly atmosphere which means that even if you do end up getting lost, there will always be someone on hand to help you find your tent, or the bar!
Combining live bands and DJs with circus acts, graffiti artists, and spoken word, Hamswell is nestled in a gurt lush green valley filled for three days of every August with a diverse range of music, locally sourced farm produce and cider, and endless revelry. Headlining this year’s event is the godfather of Drum and Bass, Nicky Blackmarket. As if that wasn’t enough they’ve got the legendary pioneer of electronica Radioactive Man and a true stalwart of the UK Hip-Hop scene Dr Syntax.
Hamswell Festival was first conceived by Jonny Wharton, the son of farmer Richard Wharton. 15 years before the festivals inauguration in 2005, Jonny sat down with his father after going to Glastonbury, to discuss if they could do something similar one day. Fast forward to 2011 and Hamswell is now in its 7th year! After hundreds of acts and thousands of punters gracing the valley of Hamswell, the festival has not changed its original outlook of providing exciting new music within
easy reach of hundreds of people in a valley just outside Bath.
Welcoming all generations with a family friendly atmosphere, the festival also includes art installations, trapeze artists, fire jugglers, spoken word, graffiti artists, 3D visuals, circus performers to name just a few of the features in store. The famous Wharton BBQ will be back serving you fine lamb based delicacies direct from Hamswell Farm itself. Then there’s the Bath Organic Farms stall; more local produce of supreme quality. Plus a host of other carefully selected stalls to keep you going over the weekend.
Early Bird tickets begin at £35 per person for full camping over the weekend (Friday 12th to Sunday 14th August), with the full weekend ticket costing £45 from Hamswell Festival is a fully licensed event. More info at www.hamswellfestival.com
