Brisfest 2011 rounds off the summer festival season with it’s annual event at Bristol’s harbourside on September 23-25. Organised by the Bristol Festival Community Group, the fourth annual music and arts festival will take over the Lloyds Amphitheatre in the city centre for the weekend.

Following the success of last years festival the organisers wanted to add to the attractions on offer last year and 2011 will include a full mini golf course, the much loved turfed area, hundreds of artists, performers, DJs and bands, renowned international and local graffiti artists, themed déco and much more. Between the legendary BrisFest boat parties, Rave’s on the Wave’s, AV installations and the infamous citywide night club takeover Rave on Avon this year is looking pretty special. Rumours abound regarding a large and mysterious sculpture arriving at the BrisFest warehouse so keep your eyes peeled!

Like Bristol, BrisFest is multicultural and inclusive. Just a few of the feathers in their cap – bringing different communities together through a shared love of music, art, dance and food; engaging with local residents in the planning process; working with disadvantaged members of the community to give them useful life skills; offering free taster workshops to increase year-round participation in local groups; and offering unlimited volunteering opportunities, so anyone who can’t afford the ticket price can still get involved. BrisFest is still recruiting volunteers for this year’s festival, so if you want to learn something new, meet some like-minded people, give something back to your community, and enhance your CV in the process, get in touch!
