TOP CAT CORNISH PRODUCER

Cornish DJ and producer Dante Gabriel claims a pair of hungry cats added to the vibe of his latest recording, and has seen the track become a bestseller. 25 Miles, a track recorded under the name of Tenoshi, has topped the respected Juno reggae chart as well as being the best selling record at Fat City Records and Phonica Records.
Dante, a regular DJ in Falmouth, Penzance and a resident DJ at the Eden Project, said: “On 25 Miles, the drums were recorded at The Eden Project, the trombone in a Newlyn auto garage, and the bass in a Falmouth conservatory where two hungry Maine Coon cats ran wild across the equipment, adding to the vibe.
“The whole track is based around a musical narrative between Man In The Street by Don Drummond and Edwin Star’s original, but re-scored and re-recorded with an aim to producing what sounds like an authentic lost Jamaican ‘riddim’ – the instrumental accompaniment to a song.”
25 Miles, and the b-side Papa Was A Rolling Stoned, have been played at festivals throughout the summer and playlisted by BBC Radio One’s Rob Da Bank and BBC Radio Six’s Craig Charles.

Dante’s next Cornish outing is at the Monster Ball, Gwithian, Hayle, on Saturday, October 29, where he’ll be playing alongside Radio One’s Gilles Peterson and a host of other name DJs.

The Monster Ball runs from 8pm, to 6am, in three large, lavishly-decorated marquees.
