AN AUDIENCE WITH MR NICE (HOWARD MARKS) AT CHEPSTOW SMIRNOFF BAR
You’ve read the book (several times), you’ve seen the film, now this is your chance to meet the legend Howard Marks aka Mr Nice, in Chepstow on Friday 25th November.
Described by the Daily Mail as ‘the most sophisticated drugs baron of all time’, Howard Marks has worked with the British Secret Service and has been connected with the Mafia, the IRA, MI6 and the CIA.
And now as part of his Official Tour he will be presenting his fascinating talk “An Audience With Mr Nice” followed by an exclusive after party and DJ set at The Smirnoff Bar in Chepstow, all in one very special evening. Organisers Shantaram Events, based in Newport, say: “We are very excited to present Mr Marks on his (and our) home turf… he is not only fascinating but also an extremely intelligent and charming gentleman who will tell a spell binding life story.”
Howard’s musical career, which was kick-started in 1996 by the Super Furry Animals’ track ‘Hanging With Howard Marks’, has flourished. He is a regular on the DJ circuit currently favouring the Dub Step sound but describing his own style as ‘stoned eclectic’. He launched a label ‘Bothered’ in the late 90s that featured material from Shaun Ryder, Stereophonics and a plethora of new bands. He has played at Manumission, and remixed tracks for Super Furry Animals, performed a spoken word track with Freebass, and compiled ‘Mr Nice – A Musical Trip With Howard Marks ’ an album of his favourite music.
