RED BULL MUSIC ACADEMY + FUTUREBOOGIE HITS MOTION BRISTOL THIS WEEKEND

Those of you not from ‘round these parts’ might be confused by the West Countries propensity for ‘motion’ during the last quarter of the year. Out of towners can be heard muttering “It’s only the action or process of moving or of changing place or position, what’s the big deal?” on every street corner…

Little do they know that motion is actually pronounced Motion, and most specifically at this time of year ‘the underground cornucopia known as In:Motion’. At only a fledgling one year old, the wallet and brain bashing three month season already bestrides the Bristol club scene like a behemoth; for the god or ill of the scene is up to you to decide. And if In:Motion is a behemoth, this Saturday’s collaboration between surefire party starters/label honchos Futureboogie and the impressive Red Bull Music Academy is at least a huge angry dog.

Topping the line up for his first time in Briz is the mighty Henrik Schwarz, a man deeply entrenched in the deep house lexicon . Alongside Schwarz in the cavernous main room is live dance act Crazy P; not your standard Motion booking, but singer Danielle Moore and the band’s infectious 4/4 is sure to get the boogying on, even if the crowd might be confused by the presence of more than one person on stage. Rounding off with lady of the moment Maya Jane Coles and one man zeitgeist Julio Bashmore, the main room looks pretty darn tasty.

Room 2’s line up is a nice counterpoint to the hype of the above mentioned; something a little slower with a bit more of an eclectic vibe. Sex-music producer Bonobo (come on, it is) will be spinning some records, which he does with considerable aplomb, alongside another Bristol legend and label boss Appleblim. Add in slow house duo Behling and Simpson, responsible for some of FB Records best output (IMHO), and room 2 definitely ain’t slack.
More? There’s chuffing more? Yep, room 3 has some more Futureboogie output in the styles of Christophe and Lukas, both who are turning out some good West Country house at the moment, and London disco outfit Horse Meat Disco who will, surprisingly, be cracking out some lesser known disco recuts for the crowds delectation.

Tickets apparently sold out before there was even a barter-based economy, so if you have been lucky enough to bag or blag one, then be EXCITED.
