Beautiful Days festival which takes place at Escot Park near Exeter won Best Family Festival at the 2011 UK Festival Awards in London last week. After being shortlisted for the last five years in the same category, the festival picked up the coveted award at the ceremony at London’s Roundhouse where the industry paid tribute to the best the country has to offer. The event saw 16 trophies handed out throughout the evening, with other big winners including Glastonbury and Bestival.

Beautiful Days is a family music festival with six stages, site art, a huge children’s area in the centre of the festival, comedy, theatre, family camping, a healing area, licensed real ale bars from Otter Brewery & carefully selected food and craft stalls. The festival has no corporate sponsorship and does not advertise. Tickets for the popular event have sold out in advance for a number of years. The festival, which is organised by Exeter based DMF Music on behalf of folk band Levellers, have confirmed they are already in talks with bands but the line-up for next year won’t be announced for a while yet. Acts who played last year include Big Audio Dynamite, Gogol Bordello, Carter USM, Levellers, Tim Minchin, The Low Anthem and Flogging Molly. 2012 is the tenth anniversary of the 15,000 capacity festival and tickets for the event are on sale now.
