CHARLIE SIMPSON ANNOUNCES TWO DATES IN SW FOR 2012
Following his debut UK solo tour and sold out shows including London’s Islington Academy, Charlie Simpson has announced his tour plans for 2012 including his biggest solo show to date at Koko, London as well as heading to the South West to play Falmouth’s Princess Pavilion on Thursday 5 April and Exeter’s Phoenix on Friday 6.
Charlie’s 2011 tour perfectly showcased his strength as a musician, song writer and performer. It also proved to be the best possible arena to hear his fantastic debut album ʻYoung Pilgrimʼ, which charted at Number Six in August of this year. 2011 has been a stellar year for Charlie. His latest single ʻCemeteryʼ was selected as the iTunes Single Of The Week and has been downloaded over 70,000 times. The lead single from the album ʻDown Down Downʼ was rapturously received by Charlieʼs fans, including Radio 1 Dj Fearne Cotton who selected it as her ʻSingle Of the Weekʼ.
Charlie has also made numerous TV appearances including performing on ITVʼs Daybreak, Channel 4ʻs Hollyoaks Music Show and Channel 5ʼs OK TV. His music videos have gained over 1 million views on YouTube, including the video ʻCemeteryʼ where Charlie was assaulted by low flying fruit! ʻYoung Pilgrimʼ saw Charlie join forces with acclaimed producer Danton Supple (Coldplay, Doves) to begin recording the album. The result is an accomplished 12 track record that emanates vintage warmth and whose luscious melodies and occasional imperfections lend it a vibrant character and earnest charm.
Tickets go on sale on Monday 5th December and tickets for both show are available from www.seetickets.com // 0871 2200260 or in Falmouth from the Pavilion Box Office 01326 211222 or Exeter Phoenix Box Office 01392 667080.
