The Art8 Prize is a central part of the Festival and it will enable Art8 to bring new artistic work to the town and to support the work of local artists.

The Art8 Prize, supported by FEAST, adds to the breadth of the already packed festival, it also aids the future of the festival with a legacy of contemporary creative work. The Festival and the Art8 Prize will encourage new visitors to Newquay both from outside the county but particularly from across Cornwall along with engaging the local community.

Sally Robinson, visual artist and Chair of Art8 said: “We are excited by this opportunity to support artists and bring new art work to Newquay as part of a great new Art Festival. Our interest is broad; we want artists to inspire us with their ideas”

We believe that this will encourage greater numbers of local people in to take part and offers a new and broader appeal to draw people from Cornwall to Newquay
Our approach is to keep costs to a minimum whilst recognising and promoting the arts and cultural activity happening in Newquay and its surrounding villages.
The planning group includes local artists, business people and those with considerable experience in the arts and project management
The Headland, The Aquarium, Belushi’s, Café Irie, Pot-Tea Training and Paraphernalia Vintage Tea rooms are just some of those who have offered space with dance groups, local artists, musicians and others planning their contribution.
