A grand celebration of National burlesque talent will be hitting Cardiff as the cream of the country’s performers take to the stage for the very first Welsh Burlesque Festival, March 31, 2012.

The first Welsh Burlesque Festival will be a one day event, where audiences will not only be able to see some of Wales’ most popular professional burlesque performers and performers of Welsh origin together on one line-up in an exciting evening show, they’ll also be able to witness up-and-coming artists in the afternoon ‘Teatime Tease’ showcase, which also includes high tea.

Presented by Burlesque Cardiff and Swansea and Carmarthenshire-based Bluestocking Lounge, the festival will highlight the diverse range of burlesque artistes in Wales, with the emphasis on home-grown talent exhibiting an array of styles from comedy and classic to neo-burlesque. In addition to the live shows, festival-goers can try the art of burlesque for themselves in workshops that range from chair dancing to making burlesque accessories, hosted by Welsh-based professionals; and as if that’s not enough, there will also be a vintage fair with stalls selling handcrafted and vintage items.

The festival will be held at Cardiff’s historic Guildford Hall and entry prices range from £3 for the vintage fair only to £15 for shows and workshops. There are also combined ticket discount deals and all-day passes (£45) for those who want to enjoy the whole festival. More info at www.welshburlesquefestival.com
