The Isle of Wight is becoming a hotbed for festivals these days and the brand new WOWfest takes place near Shanklin, IOW, from August 17 – 19. The inaugural event will showcase an eclectic mix of world music and will be headlined by UB40; what’s more, we’ve got a pair of tickets to give away to one lucky reader!
WOWfest has been dubbed the brightest and biggest new festival for 2012 with a spectacular line up of massive names across 5 stages and an African Village featuring an eclectic mix of House, Reggae, Ska, Jazz, World, Disco, Dance, Dubstepas well as workshops, cabaret, theatre and circus performances, afterhours swirling burlesque and comedy clubs.
UB40 will be joined on the bill by one of the world’s best DJs, Paul Oakenfold. There’s also a UK exclusive with Madeleine Peyroux on tour, 70s & 80s originals such as The Selecter, The Beat, Maxi Priest, Aswad, Rose Royce, Imagination and greats like the Wailers, Finley Quaye, Jesus Jones, Misty in Roots, Alabama 3, Neville Staple, plus a whole host of other names.
