Once more, the European festivals are proving the most value for money with top acts for just a fraction of the ticket price of their UK counterparts – even when you take into account the cheap flights needed to get there!

The latest tasty offering comes from Poland in the shape of Off Festival – which takes place near Kratowice from August 3 to 5 – with tickets starting at just £30 for the whole festival (£39 with camping).

Already confirmed to play the three day festival is dOOM, The Wedding Present, Battles, Baxter Dury, Atari Teenage Riot, Connan Mockasin, Das Racist, Death in Vegas, The Antlers, Fanfarlo, Henry Rollins, Iggy and the Stooges, Kim Gordon & Ikue, King Creosote & Jon Hopkins, Kirt Vile & The Violators, Megafaun, Shabazz Palaces, Swans, Ty Segall, Spectrum, Suicide and more.

And organisers recently added Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore, Texan bard Josh T. Pearson, Polish alternative rock queen Nosowska, and – reuniting just for the festival – Kanał Audytywny. If that wasn’t enough three new acts have been added to the Radio 3 Stage lineup: two American groups that take an irreverent approach to their country’s folk traditions — Akron/Family and Megafaun — as well as our own Afro Kolektyw, who think nothing of blurring the boundaries between words and music.

OFF Festival Katowice: an alternative music festival, now in its seventh year. The artistic director of the festival is Artur Rojek. Held at the “Słupna” water park in Mysłowice in its first years, the event has been organized in Katowice since 2010. OFF Festival has won numerous distinctions in Poland and abroad. It was recently given the prestigious European Festival Award for Best Medium-Sized European Festival in 2011.

Tickets and passes are now on sale at the OFF Festival website at www.off-festival.pl/en/2012
