WIN: TICKETS TO CRASH FEST 2012 IN WALES
Following on from the success of last year’s event, Abermule will again play host to the largest Mid-Wales open air music festivals – Crash Fest, and we’re giving away a pair of tickets.
Over 1,200 people attended last year’s event and organisers plan more artists, musicians and acts than previous years put together. The organisers are also planning heats for local groups to compete in at venues in Bishops Castle, Llanidloes, Newtown & Welshpool prior to the big weekend, to compete for a prime spot on the main stage on the Saturday evening.
Committee member Ian Friend said “We really want to hear from local bands that have a different sound to their music especially with roots in Folk, Jazz or Blues origin to take park this year. Whether it’s to perform on our big main stage or a small acoustic sound in one of our smaller tents. Bands that are keen to take part need to get in touch with us as soon as possible as we plan on putting on more acts throughout the Friday evening and all day Saturday from noon”.
The Dance tent will kick things off again on the Friday night with all forms of Dance / Trance / DnB and Happy House being played well into the early hours. After the success of last year and Sonny Watson playing to a packed field it will be hard to beat but plans are being put together to bring and even bigger sound system in and more effects from our various lighting rigs. Saturday will see the main stage and smaller tent welcome over 20 bands and groups from all over the region.
Camping with a family area as well as a “Mini” young people’s village will be a feature again, with the camp site increasing in size to cope with what the organisers hope will be more party people this year. The only thing that has stayed the same from last year’s event is the ticket prices this will not be changed.
Committee member Ashley Owen said “Crash Festival is not for profit. All money goes to making sure the festival can run next year. Some limited Sponsorship of the event is still available so if company’s want to get involved we would love to hear from them. The festival did make a small profit last year and the committee are keen to put back more of the money it generates this year into Abermule Community Centre funds. But we really do need more man power to put on this event in terms of committe members, helpers to prepare the field in the week leading up to the 3rd of August and stewards throughout the festival weekend as well as help to takle the huge tidy up campaign on the Sunday so I urge any local’s with some free time and willingness to help please get in touch, our next committee meeting will be on the 18th March in Abermule.”
