Frendzy, the Cornwall crew surf contest, is now open for registration.

The contest, that will be held on Saturday, September 8, is an exciting opportunity for the UK surfing community to access some of Cornwall’s best waves in a friendly team environment. The event draws surfers – both novice and experienced – from all over Cornwall and beyond.

The entry rules for the competition have changed this year. Each team member must have five members, with at least one member being female. The competition is mobile and will be moved to the best surf spot in west Cornwall on the day to ensure a good swell for the teams.

The chance to take on current champions Praa Sands will cost just £20 a team, which includes tickets for all team members the Frendzy afterparty. There will be prizes for the first, second and third places as well as the coveted Frendzy National Trust trophy.

Tickets to the famous Frendzy surf afterparty, which is held in a beautiful, rural location and runs to 6am, are £15. The afterparty features local DJs from across Cornwall. Last year saw surfers from Praa Sands pip Porthleven to the post in slighty messy, three-foot surf at Praa Sands while a team from the RNLI came third.

Online registration to the contest, as well as tickets to the afterparty, are available at www.frendzy.co.uk
