Friday August 3 saw revellers head to Fistral Beach, Newquay, for an epic ‘Boogie Knights’ event at the Beach Bar.

Organised by British bodyboard brand Prone, Big Score Productions and Club Peel, the event was designed to raise money for Mexican village, Puerto Escondido. The surfing hot spot was hit by a devastating hurricane in June this year wrecking the lifeguard towers along the beach. The IBA (International Bodyboarding Association) immediately launched an international campaign known as ‘Salvemos Puerto’ (Save Puerto) to help rebuild the town and vital lifeguard towers along the beach.

More than 150 people came to the event enjoying movie premiers, a raffle and music from top local DJ’s. The raffle raised £476 going straight to the IBA campaign. Generously supported by local surf shops and brands, prizes were raffled off to raise much needed funds.

Steve Berriman, of Prone, said: “The IBA reacted straight away to the tragic situation in Mexico by professionally and quickly launching this campaign. It really has brought the body boarding and surfing communities from around the world together to help the town rebuild itself. I want to thank everyone involved and for the fantastic prizes donated for the raffle. The night was a great success and we are busy planning the next one…”
