EDEN PROJECT IN RUNNING FOR BEST UK LEISURE ATTRACTION AWARD
The Eden Project in Cornwall has been nominated in the Best UK Leisure Attraction category at the British Travel Awards for the second time, after scooping the prestigious prize in 2011.
Eden is one of seven destinations to have been short-listed for the award, which is voted for by the public. A panel of industry professionals narrowed down the nominations to create the short-list and now it is up to the public to decide the winner.
Often considered the Oscars of the holiday industry, the British Travel Awards are the largest of their kind in the UK. The categories cover 75 types of holiday experiences, including destinations, accommodation and customer care. Nominees for last year’s awards, in which Eden won, received more than 700,000 votes.
Martin Williams, Eden’s Sales & Marketing Director, said: “We are really proud to be nominated for the 2012 Best UK Leisure Attraction Award, particularly after winning last year. With new additions such as the SkyWire – a 640-metre zipwire that gives visitors a bird’s eye view of the Biomes – and a jam-packed Harvest celebration, Eden is always developing fresh ideas to give people memorable experiences every time they visit.”
Other nominees in the same category include Longleat Safari Park, the Minack Theatre and Madame Tussauds. People have until September 30 to vote for the Best UK Leisure Attraction and other categories. All voters will be entered into a draw to win a variety of prizes.
