Exeter indie band, Falling Trees release their debut album this week on their own Pastime Records, and to launch it, the band have a gig at King’s Arms in Exeter on Friday Sept 14.

The Memories That Hold Us Together is the long-awaited follow up to Falling Trees’ 2010 Youth Club Disco EP, the “6th Best EP of 2010”, according to Music Geek’s ‘Recession Proof Music Top Ten EPs of 2010’ end of year list. The four songs on the original EP have all been re-recorded for the new album.

The album is also the 22ND official release by Exeter-based indie label, Pastime Records, set up to promote and support indie acts recording and performing in the Exeter and Devon area. The label now has an active roster of seven acts: Andy B, National Pastime, Falling Trees, Anthony & Jacqui, Ant Smith, Bright Lights Big Zombie, and The Morrisons, with plans to add to their list further in the future.

Falling Trees are Andrew Padfield, lead vocals; Paul Stolworthy, rhythm guitars; Andy Botterill, bass and lead guitars and keyboards, and Chris Head, drums, with special guest, Andy Ward, additional drums. They describe their sound as “retro post-punk indie, drawing on influences from Joy Division to The Smiths to My Bloody Valentine.”

Falling Trees launch The Memories That Hold Us Together at the King’s Arms, Cowick Street, Exeter, from 8.30pm on Friday 14 September. More info at http://pastimerecords.webs.com/
