The nights are getting darker and spookier and as we approach Halloween, there’s plenty of ghoulish fun to be had across the region – here’s our top picks.

BRISTOL:

The Bristol Zombie Walk takes place in the City Centre from 12.30pm. An official afterparty takes place at Exchange, Old Market, from 8pm – 4am. It features live music from Yes Rebels, Goan Dogs, Sapiens and Aztecs and entertainment from DJs Dazee, Dub Boy, Arsequake, Ironside b3b Punksi amd We Rewl. Propaganda’s Halloween “Spooktaculars” will take place in 22 cities across the UK, including at The Bunker in Bristol on Wednesday October 31. The clubbing institution is famed for bringing some of the biggest names in music to venues across the UK, playing the very best in upfront indie and alternative classics and recent Propaganda guests have included Mumford and Sons, The Vaccines, Ed Sheeran, Rizzle Kicks, Bloc Party, Bombay Bicycle Club, The Midnight Beast and Usain Bolt! EXETER, DEVON:

The Halloween Zombie Walk/Ball 2012 takes place on Saturday 27 October at Exeter Phoenix with the Zombie Walk through Exeter City Centre, starting at 3.45pm from the upper bus station car park (behind CO-OP) and finising at The Phoenix as the doors open for the Ball. This year’s walk is longer and is for the whole family to join in with entertainments along the route. The Ball opens at 5pm and runs til late with Double headliners Fearless Vampire Killers & The Dead Lay Waiting being supported on the main stage by CAMBION, Flame Fracture and Your Mums Beard. HELSTON, CORNWALL:

The Halloween Masked Ball takes place at Rosuick Farm, St Martin, Helston on Saturday, October 27. This year’s theme is the cult horror film – From Dusk ‘Till Dawn. Dancers, disco kings and all-round mayhem maestros The Cuban Brothers, will be bring their show to the people with some impromptu early performances in the car park and camping areas at the ball. Meanwhile Mylo – playing his first ever set in Cornwall. The Death Star – a nightclub inside a huge flying saucer – will be joined to the Megatron arena (curated by the team who brought you the popular Bedlam tent at the summer Masked Ball) by a cavernous tunnel to keep the creatures of the night at bay. COMPTON MARTIN, SOMERSET:

Bath singer/songwriter Gabrielle Aplin, who has just signed to Parlophone, plays a one-off FREE gig at the Rong O’Bells in the North Somerset village of Compton Martin. The young singer has gained hundreds of thousands of followers across the world, thanks to her simple yet beautiful singing style and some brilliant cover songs. She’s unlikely to be doing gigs of this ilk for long, so get in while you still can. Doors 7.30pm. Support from Hudson Taylor.
