Following the arrest of three members of Russian punk group Pussy Riot & the subsequent sentencing of two of them for the crime of “hooliganism driven by religious hatred” there have been outcries from many corners of the Western World, in particular from musicians & artists.

There have already been a handful of fund / awareness raising events across the UK in support of Masha and Nadya & on Sunday 18th November @ The Lanes, Bristol Bristol too will be hosting one, instigated by outspoken supporter & friend of the women, Bristol MP Kerry McCarthy.

The focus of the event will be live music with three artists lined up to play including local favourites Empty Pools (noise rock with teen dream melodies); newly Bristol based She Makes War (gloom-pop solo project of Laura Kidd) & part time Bristol resident Josie Ghost (ex King Blues, keyboard touting dynamo & self confessed “fun-sized gobshite”).

Apart from the three live bands there will be an exclusive screening of a short film about Pussy Riot based on events in parliament & including clips of the women, stalls and DJs. Entry  £3. More info at https://www.facebook.com/#!/events/162419527236337/?fref=ts
