Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) “the UK’s coolest environmental pressure” group is coming to the Ride Café/Bar in Plymouth at 7pm on Thursday 14 May. SAS will be hosting an informal meeting for surfers, waveriders and anyone who care about their beloved beaches and surf spots. Plymouth’s the last stop of the nationwide SAS Sea-Grass Roots Tour and everyone is welcome. Before the evening meeting SAS will be at a local beach offering free test rides of the latest eco-surfboard technology.

SAS campaigners are calling on local water users to make sure their coast is protected and make their voices heard at these events. Locals always have vital information about current threats to their local water environment, something the SAS team needs to ensure the UK’s coastline receives the protection it deserves. SAS campaigners will also educate surfers, waveriders and water users so they are fully aware of the health risks they can encounter in the water and can make better informed decision before they potentially expose themselves to harmful pollutants.

The SAS team will be at a local surf spot between 4pm and 6pm. This is your chance to take an eco surfboard for a test ride. These are some of the greenest boards on the planet, brand new and free to take out for a splash. With the Eden Project kindly donating 4 boards, there’s a board to suit everyone’s surfing ability. The beach venue for the eco board demo will be confirmed on Tuesday the 12th, as local weather conditions will dictate where the best surf is. Please call 01872 553 001 or 07711 767 548 for more information on the beach venue.
