MANIC STREET PREACHERS TO RELEASE NATIONAL TREASURES – THE COMPLETE SINGLES COLLECTION
It’s hard to believe that the Manic Street Preachers have been going for more than two decades, but it is 21 years since they released their first single – Suicide Alley. The song got a rare airing at their gig at Blackwood Miners’ Institute in South Wales earlier this year and no, to coincide with the anniversary, the Manics are releasing their ultimate singles collection – National Treasures – The Complete Singles. Their musical career has been pretty turbulent to say the least, with main lyricist Richey Edwards going missing back in 1995 and declared officially dead in 2008. Following his disappearance, singer James Dean Bradfield, bassist and lyricist Nicky Wire and drummer Sean Moore, who lives in Bristol, carried on as a three-piece. They went on to achieve great success with the 1996 album Everything Must Go and released their 10th studio album last year. The singles box-set will include 38 songs from their 21 year career, including Motown Junk, released on Heavenly Records, back in 1990 and their most recent 2011 single Postcards From A Young Man. They will also include a brand new single, details of which are yet to be revealed. National Treasures – The Complete Singles is due out in October.
